Terms & Conditions
1. QUOTATIONS
We may charge a quoted price and additional charges may apply, if we have not been notified prior to removal, wither reference to any of the following:
(a) Goods or items have to collected or delivered, above ground or first floor levels.
(b) Waiting time – if our vehicle has to stand waiting for over an hour (shorter than a hour will be complimentary). This will mean our vehicle cannot be loaded or off loaded and therefore, unavailable for other work. A charge of £40 per hour will apply.
(c) Parking or other fees or charges that we may incur in order to carry out services on your behalf.
(d) If loading/ off loading can not be done within a radius of 25 metres from the property.
(e) On upper level removals, where a lift has been noted as operational, but is out of order for use by our staff.
(f) Where stairs and doorways are inadequate for free movements of the goods, without mechanical equipment or structural alteration.
2. WORK NOT INCLUDED IN THE QUOTATION
We may charge a quoted price and additional charges may apply, if we have not been notified prior to removal, with reference to any of the following:
(a) Take up or lay fitted floor coverings
(b) Dismantle or assemble furniture, fixtures or fittings.
(c) Move items or goods from a loft or cellar, unless property lit and floored, with safe access.
(d) Disconnect or re-connect appliances
(e) Waiting time – e.g. – waiting on keys or contract exchange delay (see 1b)
(f) When the cubic footage of items stated, without survey exceeds the customer’s specifications.
3. GOODS NOT TO BE SUBMITTED FOR REMOVAL OR STORAGE
The list of items below are excluded from this contract.
(a) Jewellery, watches, precious stones, money, securities, deeds, stamps, coins.
Goods or collections of any similar kind.
(b) Any animals and their cages or tanks
(c)Prohibited or stolen goods, drugs, potentially dangerous or explosive items, including gas bottles, paints and firearms.
(d) Refrigerated of frozen foods or drinks.
(e) Goods which require special licences or government permission for export or import.
(f) Unstable furniture/goods that may collapse or become damaged or cause damage, due to your poor structural integrity.
4. RESPONSIBILITY
It will be your responsibility to:
(a) Obtain your own expense, all documents, permits, licences and customs documents necessary for the removal to be completed.
(b) Be present or represented throughout the removal.
(c) Prepare all appliances or electronic equipment prior to their removal.
(d) Empty and defrost refrigerators and freezers.
(e) Arrange adequate insurance cover for the goods submitted for removal and transit and/or storage, against all insurable risks.
(f) Adequately protect vulnerable furniture, glassware, pictures, ornaments and surfaces (except where K B Henry have been employed for a packing service.)
5. CHARGES OF CANCELLATION
(a) Cancellation occurs more than 3 days prior to removal – a charge to the consumer of £30 will apply.
(b) Cancellation occurs less than 3 days prior to removal – A charge of 50% of the removal price will apply i.e. £245 = £122.50 will be payable.
6. PAYING FOR THE REMOVAL
(a) No deposit is required. However if cancellation occurs, charges will apply (see paragraph 5).
(b) Cheques will only accepted on payments over £200.
(c) None Clearance of cheques will accrue an added charge of £50 administration fees.
7. DELAYS IN TRANSIT
(a) Other than by reason of negligence, we will not be liable for delays in transit.
(b) If through no fault of ours we are unable to deliver your goods, we will take them into store. The contract will then be fulfilled and any additional service(s) including storage and delivery will be at the customer’s expense.
8. DAMAGE TO PREMISES OR PROPERTY OTHER THAN GOODS
If we cause damage as a result of moving goods under your express instructions and against our advice and where to move the goods in the manner instructed by you will inevitably cause damage, we shall not accept that we were negligent.
9. TIME LIMITS FOR CLAIMS
(a) For goods which we deliver, you should note any visible loss, damage or failure to produce any goods at the time of delivery.
(b) If un-noticed on delivery, a claim is to be notified to us in writing as soon as loss or damage is discovered and in ANY event within seven (7) days of delivery.
10. ADVICE AND INFORMATION
Advice and information in whatever form it may be given is provided by the company for the customer only.
Any oral advice given without special arrangement is provided gratuitously and without contractual liability.
11. DISPUTES
All disputes or claims should be submitted within writing, within seven days from job completion. No verbal communication will be entered into.
